SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 17

Commending Kelly L. George for her service as president of the
West Virginia Volunteer Advisors and for having been
recently honored as the 1998 West Virginia Citizen of the
Year.
Whereas, Ms. George has dedicated many years of service
through her affiliation with local, state, regional and
international service organizations, coalitions and health
causes; and
Whereas, Ms. George is a former president of the West
Virginia Council of Catholic Women, the American Mothers, Inc.,
and the Arts Association; and
Whereas, Ms. George is dedicated to promoting self- improvement. She is a professional parliamentarian and has
presented leadership seminars across the state and across the
nation; and
Whereas, Ms. George is currently serving as 75th Anniversary
Pilot International World chair, as chair of the Board of Risk
and Insurance Management, as president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, West Virginia Woman's Club of Charleston, and
chair of the Board of the West Virginia March of Dimes; and
Whereas, Ms. George has served on the Department of Health
Infant Mortality Project and the Governor's Conference on Infant
Mortality committee and chaired the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer
Center "Only The Best" committee; and
Whereas, In addition to the many honors which have been
bestowed upon her, Ms. George was recently honored as the 1998
West Virginia Citizen of the Year, for which she was the guest of
honor at a tea dance and testimonial awards dinner held recently
at the Charleston Marriott Hotel; and
Whereas, Such selfless service and dedication to the welfare
of the people of West Virginia by Ms. George should be
recognized; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby congratulates Kelly L. George for her
many honors and recognizes her for her many services to the State
of West Virginia; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to Kelly L. George, the West
Virginia March of Dimes and the capitol press corps.
